Director, Group Accounting & Reporting - Dublin 18 Hybrid

The Role:

We are recruiting for a Director, Group Accounting & Reporting. This role will be responsible for ensuring we comply with our public reporting obligations in accordance with both US GAAP & IFRS.

ICON plc is a NASDAQ listed, Irish headquartered group. This is a great opportunity to join and play a key role in ICON’s global finance team. We have in excess of 1,200 team members in our global finance team.


Key responsibilities:

  1. Consultation and advice on our group annual reports under both US GAAP & IFRS
  2. Review and approval of quarterly financial reporting to the stock exchange under US GAAP
  3. Consultation and advice on ad hoc accounting issues that arise in a group of the complexity and scale of ICON Plc
  4. Input to technical analysis supporting our quarterly Audit Committee materials and other ad hoc Board materials as required
  5. Leading the group’s assessment and approach to any complex accounting issues, coordinating with external advisors as necessary
  6. Leading impact assessment & response implementation of any new accounting/legislative or other changes.
  7. A key relationship and liaison for group audit process and play a leading role in resolution of any matters arising
  8. Leading response to any financial reporting regulatory correspondence
  9. Working with and supporting business unit and shared service finance colleagues on evaluating accounting impact of any accounting issues as they arise
  10. Working with group tax and treasury teams in on-going reviews of group structure
  11. Supporting legal & commercial finance teams in any ad hoc finance arrangements
  12. Leading pre-deal reviews of accounting implications of potential acquisition targets
  13. Consulting with the teams responsible for various statutory financial statements & audit processes
  14. Ensuring compliance with responsibilities as a NASDAQ listed group around internal control over financial reporting (SOX)

We are looking for:

  1. A Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 10-15 years' experience
  2. Experience working with or within a multinational, PLC group (in industry or practice).
  3. Ability to work effectively with people at various levels of the organization up to and including Executive leadership
  4. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  5. Robust critical thinking skills
  6. Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships with the capability to lead, motivate and develop a team of professional staff

The role is designated for hybrid working basis. Candidates should be located within a reasonable commute to the Dublin office in Leopardstown and able to spend at least 20 hours per week in the office.
