The National Screening Service (NSS) was established by the Minister for Health and Children in January 2007. It was formed in response to a national cancer strategy which advocated for a comprehensive cancer control programme. Today, the NSS is part of the Health Service Executive (HSE). It is a priority for us in the NSS that all eligible people can access our services.
DescriptionAbout us
The National Screening Service (NSS) delivers four national population-based screening programmes – for cervical, breast and bowel screening and for detecting sight-threatening retinopathy in people with diabetes.
Our programmes focus on looking for early signs of disease in healthy people, so that we can:
- detect health issues early
- help prevent disease
- ensure that anyone who does develop the disease being screened for has the best chance of early, more effective treatment
- reduce people's risk of developing a disease or its complications
- support people in making informed decisions about their health
Our mission: We deliver population screening programmes that help prevent, reduce the risk of, and assist the recognition of, disease in Ireland.
Our vision: To work together to save lives and improve people's health through population screening.
About the role:
You will work as part of The National Diabetic Retinal Screening Programme based in our Central office (Dublin) and be involved in both team and independent working across a variety of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Programme Manager and extended DRS team in DRS to provide administrative services that ensure strict governance of the Diabetic RetinaScreen functions.
- Liaise with screening providers to ensure all activity standards are maintained.
- Collect, maintain and collate data pertaining to the National Diabetic RetinaScreen Programme, upholding data standards and integrity.
- Support the operational team with the management of Quality Assurance standards for the Diabetic RetinaScreen Programme.
- Assist in responding to and managing screening participant complaints in accordance with national policy.
- Provide support by assisting with organisation and minute taking of management and operational meetings.
- Assist in responding to and managing enquiries from service users, the public and external stakeholders.
- Assist the Programme Manager in the management and reporting of Key Performance Indicators as set out in the QA standards.
- Ensure the timely provision of accurate data/information consistent with the monitoring of service delivery and to manage capacity in line with budget availability.
- Review, validate and manage cost information and ensure stakeholders are remunerated in line with agreed service levels.
- Work to assist the strategic plan for the programme.
- To support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service.
- Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards and other standards as they apply to the role for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc., and comply with associated HSE protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards.
Please refer to the job description for detailed responsibilities
Join our team and we'll provide you with the support you need to deliver and succeed. This is an unmissable opportunity to join a diverse and supportive workplace where staff feel valued. #ChooseScreening
