Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland Avature Full time

When you join KPMG Ireland, you are joining a community of over 4,200 employees who collectively work together, both in person and virtually, to achieve their full potential.

We are known as an organisation who want you to come as you are and do work that truly matters. Joining KPMG Ireland is an opportunity to enhance your career, not only in the work that you enjoy doing, but equally through the global connections that you make, the lifelong learning that you can accomplish and the chance to make your mark.

Are you our next Government and Infrastructure Manager?

Location: Dublin, as part of our hybrid working model.

Grade: Manager

Contract type: Permanent

All at one time, we want to change our energy mix, our climate, our economies, our global trade patterns, our cities, our technology and our social equity. And we plan to do it all against a backdrop of a non-stationary environment, divisive geopolitical rhetoric and deep economic uncertainty. It is a mammoth task.

Humanity's success or failure will largely rest on the shoulders of our infrastructure. Infrastructure will be central to the energy transition and achieving our climate adaptation goals. It catalyzes economic growth and facilitates trade. It underpins urban renewal, lays the foundations for digital transformation and — when done well — can help embed social equity.

To achieve this we need to change (and improve) the way we plan, fund, develop and operate our infrastructure. It will require collaboration, new funding mechanisms, innovative regulatory regimes, new construction techniques, broader skill sets and — more than anything — a high degree of flexibility and creativity. Business as usual is not an option. Countries, territories, cities and corporates have to reinvent themselves as well as up-skill and innovate to meet the emerging changes and potential opportunities. Enabling the world's transitions, therefore, must start with a transition in the infrastructure sector.

KPMG has been at the forefront advising on the most important infrastructure projects across the island of Ireland for over 20 years. Over recent years we have grown our Infrastructure and Government team capability and have had great success working with many large infrastructure asset owners and government departments on the island of Ireland working on key projects that affect all of our lives.

A snapshot of your peer group:

  • At least 5 years previous work experience including knowledge and application of the infrastructure guidelines (formerly public spending code).
  • Background in providing strategic, commercial and financial advice on infrastructure capital projects and programmes.
  • Experience developing feasibility studies and business cases for capital investment programmes in one or more key sectors such as transport, housing, utilities, digital, health and education.
  • Experience with providing the supporting analysis for the appraisal of capital investment programmes.
  • Experience working on Public Private Partnerships (PPPs).
  • Experience of working with central government departments and agencies or with local government.
  • Numerate with strong analytical skills. Financial modelling skills are also beneficial.
  • An appetite to apply yourself on a broad range of client challenges and learn new skills in a challenging and supportive environment.
  • A strong client relationship track record.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.

Your responsibilities and achievements will evolve as you enhance your career with us. Here is what you can initially expect:

  • Providing strategic advice on approaches to the development, procurement and delivery of major infrastructure projects and contracts for the provision of critical government services across key areas including transport, housing, energy, utilities, education and health;
  • Critical review and development of business cases in accordance with the infrastructure guidelines and the code of practice for the governance of semi states;
  • Providing commercial and financial advice on the procurement of major investment projects across a range of sectors, including advising on tender and contract documentation, leading dialogue and negotiations with bidders and the evaluation of the tenders received;
  • Working on projects that will make a significant contribution to Ireland's National Development Plan, Climate Change targets and Sustainable Development Goals;
  • Managing junior team members on projects, ensuring that the quality of our deliverables are high;
  • Helping to manage the day to day relationship with key client contacts, ensuring our service is responsive to their needs;
  • Ensuring KPMG's quality and risk management procedures are completed to the appropriate standard;
  • Applying innovative and creative techniques to solve complex problems on client engagements.
