Job Description

This position has arisen due to the rapid expansion ofElgin Energy's project portfolioin Ireland. The successful candidate will form a part of a technically focused team responsible for internal engineering supportduring the project execution phase.
As aProject Engineeryouwill support the widerconstructionand project deliveryteam to secure anddeployment ofsignificant projects.You will be part of the project team reporting to the Project Manager for specific projects.Youwillprovideengineering support in areas such as project management, feasibility studies, review of technical due diligence documentsandreview of technical contract documents. Upon successful progression of a project,youwill take ontheproject engineering role specifically in relationto themanagement of technical issueswithexternal contractorsand external technical advisors with the aim of reducing the project's technical risk.You will manage the detailed design review processliaising with the Owners Engineer, externalcontractorsand ProjectManager.Candidates will be working primarily on utility scalePVsolarand BESSprojects.
What you will do:

  • Ensure that the project technical solution fulfils EPCand EBOP/ICPcontract and other project requirements.
  • Responsible for sign-off of project technical change.
  • Management of PV specialist consultants and advisors including determination of scopes of work and interpretation of advice received.
  • Keep all Engineering project information and tasks up to date inElgin Energyreporting.
  • Liaison, collaboration, and provision of technical and strategic advice to the various multi-disciplinary teams working onElgin Energy'sprojects.
  • Ensure effective communication between partners and other colleagues (e.g. in finance, engineering, H&S, Project Management) to support theobjectivethatthe projects are designed and optimised.
  • Managing engineering support to development sites and participation in technical meetings.
  • Assistin the preparation of tender documentation, for front-end engineering (e.g. geotechnical investigations, structural studies, EYA, preliminary layout) and ensure that they are prepared ontime, andare of the highest possible standard.
  • Assistincontractual negotiation with EPCregardingtechnical areas such as engineering, equipment specifications, performance/testing schedules.
  • Technical engagement with external consultants, contractors, independent engineers, lenders engineers, Government agencies, utility and grid companies asrequired.
  • Input into technical elements of Employer's Requirements for EPC and Consultant contracts.
  • Producetechnical reports forproject management.
  • Inspect project sites and attend seminars and meetings asrequired.
  • Support evaluation of new products, concepts, and technologies from vendors.
  • Keep up to date and inform the team about industry and market news, relevant legislation, guidance, and associated implications.
Your profile
  • Aminimum bachelor's degreequalification in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
  • At least3years' experience inlarge scalePVsolar farm andBESSprojects.
  • Experience in AutoCADandPVSyst
  • Knowledge of PV development and construction
  • Knowledge and understanding of PV technology, grid connections, solar energy yield assessments, shading, ground conditions interpretation and foundation, MV/HV grid connection procedures, PV plant installation procedures.
  • Experience of solar project procurement,constructionand commissioning.
  • Experience and knowledge of relevantIrish& UKdesign codes,regulationsand policy.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation inIrelandand UK.
  • Proficiencyin translating engineering issues into CAPEX and OPEX assumptions.
  • High analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to make decisions in a fast-paced emerging market.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude, determination, and flexibility, able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
