Bloomfield Hospital has an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 to co-lead and develop a team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants, play a crucial role in a dedicated multi-disciplinary team, and make a substantial impact in inpatient mental health treatment and care.

Location: Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, Ireland

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

Working Hours: 78 hours fortnightly

Reports to: Director of Nursing and accountable to CNM2/Assistant Director of Nursing

About Bloomfield Hospital: Bloomfield Hospital offers a range of neuropsychiatric services to adults with severe and enduring mental health needs including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's Diseases. The facility also caters to individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. It is the sole provider of specialized care for people with Huntington's disease in Ireland and offers specialist palliative care.

Bloomfield Hospital focuses on creating a therapeutic environment through recovery-oriented clinical practices and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help patients reach their highest level of functioning and quality of life. Care is provided by a Multidisciplinary Team comprising professionals from Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and General Practice.

Bloomfield Hospital, a 123-bed in-patient mental health service, is registered as an approved center with the Mental Health Commission. The hospital's ethos revolves around respecting the dignity of every individual who seeks assistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and operational development, coordination, and management in line with national and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure delivery of nursing service at the highest treatment and care standards while maintaining safety.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory programs like Health & Safety and Risk Management.
  • Lead operational change programs in nursing service as a proactive leader.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, carers, and team members in goal setting and care planning.
  • Participate in the multidisciplinary/healthcare team and foster cooperation with team members.
  • Ensure all practices, procedures, and policies align with organizational service and strategic plans.

The ideal candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • Registered Psychiatric Nurse with An Bord Altranais qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration nursing experience, including 1 year in adult mental health services.
  • Readiness to cover night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Experience in a healthcare/hospital setting, particularly in acute mental health care.
  • Desirable clinical experience in palliative care.
  • Strong clinical, managerial, and administrative competencies.
  • Experience in staff management, budgets, and workforce planning.
  • Thorough knowledge of Mental Health Commission requirements, leadership, and governance.
  • Experience working in a clinical team, understanding Clinical Governance principles and operations.
  • Ability to lead, teach, manage, engage in practice education, and support professional development.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and statutory regulations affecting healthcare organizations.
  • Evidence of continuous professional and personal development.
