Role Purpose:
  • As a Solutions Architect you will be a key member of Vodafone Business Unit (VBU) Irelands Solutions Sales team to determine the most appropriate Vodafone technology solution that meets the needs of our customer.
  • You will respond to requests for new technology or technology-derived solutions from the customer using standard Vodafone products and designs.
  • You will work closely with other members of the VBU team, including those in Solution Sales and the wider Business and Vodafone teams. This will cover a range of disciplines i.e. Sales Team, Commercial Operations, Product, Programmes & Projects, Field Engineering and Service to ensure that the technology solution designed is fit for purpose and can be readily deployed and operated in a profitable manner.
  • Your key deliverables will be high-quality, commercially viable technology solutions that have been approved by the customer and all internal stakeholders.
  • The Solutions Architect is responsible for creating the relevant documentation to established standards.
  • This will detail the proposed solution that will be contracted with the customer with full equipment and delivery costs included.
Essence of Role – Key Accountabilities:

Security Solution Design

  • Responsible for gathering requirements, designing and documenting the overall network security architecture, including firewall configurations, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS), virtual private networks (VPNs), encryption protocols and other security technologies.
  • Ability to design and develop security solutions that protect an organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, systems, applications, and data.
  • Capable to develop secure HA solutions, incident response plans and procedures for customers to address security incidents promptly and minimize their impact on the network infrastructure.
  • Ability to identifies gaps in the current project security design, cybersecurity reference architecture, and architecture design patterns and recommends security enhancements.
  • Provides project consulting, evaluating proposed solutions including vendor products & services for information security architecture, risks and recommending alternative solutions or compensating controls
  • Assist other members of the Solution Design team in multi-product solution design.
  • Responsible for technical support during commercial discussions with Vodafone customers.
  • Responsible for providing costs (BOM\PS effort\Support) for Finance approval.
  • Responsible for providing the technical component of bid material/Tender responses for Account Manager/Sales
  • Responsible for supporting the Account Manager during the bid discussions\presentations with the customer
  • Responsible for presenting the technical solution to client at peer level.

Design

  • Responsible for understanding and capturing the customer requirements, using additional resources where appropriate.
  • Responsible for translating customer requirements into Vodafone language, product-set, SLAs, Professional Services efforts and producing design documentation according to Enterprise standards.
  • Responsible for liaising with Product Management and other internal and external subject matter experts where additional product knowledge is required
  • Responsible for articulating the technical solution to service and project management colleagues and ensuring that the solution design provides for a straight-forward deployment and meets business operational requirements
  • Generation of High Level Design (HLD) Documentation for customer sign off.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all designs include an appropriate Enterprise network or solution management component to support service design,monitoring, reporting and capacity planning
  • Responsible for supporting the Project team, if required, to ensure customer project sign off

In Life

  • Establish a technical/engineering relationship with the client at peer level
  • Identifying new business opportunities and co-developing them into viable business propositions with colleagues
  • Responsible for understanding, managing and responding to customer's evolving/developing requirements and expectations around technology solutions

Knowledge and Experience

  • Excellent understanding on security products ( Firewalls, IPS, DDOS, Threat Protection, EDR,XDR, SOAR, SIEM)
  • Knowledge on security firewall vendors' products e.g Paloalto, Fortinet, Cisco, Zscaler, TrendMicro etc.
  • Familiarity with encryption protocols to secure data transmission over the network, such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Transport Layer Security (TLS), and IPsec.
  • Knowledge of LAN Data Switching protocols (IP subnetting, VLANs, QoS)
  • Understanding of Telecommunication and IT service models and their practical application (e.g. ITIL, eTOM)
  • The requirements capture process and expected outputs
  • Track record of delivering successful solution designs
  • Previous experience of working in Telco, Infrastructure or Applications Development
  • Experience of working in a virtual team

Communication

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to tailor communication and interaction style to different audiences (Internal\Partner\ Customer) in a clear and simple way
  • Create a trust based environment with customers and the solutions design team that encourages honesty, integrity and follow through on all actions.
We Are Looking For You, If You Have:
  • 3rd Level Technology Qualification or Degree in Electrical\Electronic Engineering or Computer science.
  • Industry certification level to Associate level
  • Ability to build strong internal / external relationships with key stakeholders
  • Focused on delivering the highest customer service standards to ensure a differentiated customer experience.
  • Solution design with 5 + years experience, preferably in a large complex sales environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Operates effectively with virtual teams & dependencies on the performance of other business areas
  • Ability to demonstrate Problem Solving, Analytical thinking and Decision making
  • Industry Certification to professional level.
  • Project Management skills with Prince II or ITSM Service Design ITIL qualification.
