The Role

We are looking for a Data Warehousing Consultant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to improve, design and implement a new database infrastructure. This role will also work closely with our Client to ensure maximum effectiveness of our Client's data all operations.



Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise
  • Implement solutions to prevent future problems
  • Work closely with our team to ensure that our systems are running smoothly and efficiently
  • Build and maintain database systems of high availability and quality.
  • Manage and maintain backups of databases.
  • Ensure databases are at optimal performance.
  • Continuous review of queries from applications with a view to optimising.
  • Continuous review of indexing and statistics on key production databases.
  • Continuous review and planning of data archiving strategies.

Experience & Skills

  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL DB data backup, recovery and security.
  • Strong track record of database design, documentation and coding.
  • Familiarity with entity framework generated queries - Kimball (an advantage).
  • Ability to provide guidance/patterns/practices to development teams on how to construct data access queries from application code.
  • Experience of SSIS, CDC and reporting tools such as SharePoint and working with Oracle BI Publisher/Reporting teams to control access to data.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to support the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from diverse sources into our data warehouse.
  • Data Modelling: Create and manage data models, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and accuracy. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and design appropriate data structures.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance improvements for data processing and storage, working to optimize query performance and reduce latency.
  • Data Security and Governance: Implement and enforce data security measures and governance policies to protect sensitive information. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers, to understand their data needs and provide timely and accurate support.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data engineering processes, data models, and system architecture.

Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering. Apply this knowledge to enhance and evolve our data infrastructure.

Key Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in a DWC role.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Senior DWC role.
  • Relevant 3rd level technology qualification.
  • Proven problem solving skills.
