Job Title: Cost Accountant

Location: SK biotek Ireland, Watery Lane, Swords, Co. Dublin (Travel to site required twice a month)

Job function: To help drive the business by overseeing and analysing all cost expenditures and purchases with the organisation, and make recommendations for cost efficient options.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the responsibilities of the Cost Accountant will include:

  • Support the budgeting process by providing cost-related insights and data.
  • Share data collected with the cost centre owners and work closely with them to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Work with others on the month-end close activities for the site, ensuring that all costs are allocated according to established procedures and accounting policies.
  • Work closely with the business to ensure each cost centre owner is fully aware of the expenditure in their area and are forecasting any risks or opportunities in advance.
  • Adhere to the tight 5-day close metrics for each month end as well as the quarterly projections and annual budget process.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Provide pipeline support by preparing preliminary costings for new projects.
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with cross functional team members to provide guidance and feedback.
  • Conduct costings, analysis, and provide ad hoc reporting to support commercial decisions and strategic planning.
  • Monitor, review, and challenge changes or movements in cost drivers.
  • Analyse actual cost to budget cost – highlighting and analysing variances.

Required qualifications and desired experience:

  • Ideally fully qualified account with experience working in a manufacturing environment or costing team.
  • Experience with revenue analysis across different sectors of the company.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required, with the ability to build strong relationships cross functionally with the wider site team.
  • Experience with dealing with key stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy are a must.
  • Ability to work under pressure and strong preparation skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with SAP an advantage.
