The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) was founded in 1784, originally to train surgeons and oversee the standards of surgical practice in Ireland.

Over a period of almost 240 years, RCSI has grown to become a multidisciplinary healthcare University.

In addition to being the accredited training body for Surgery and Emergency Medicine, RCSI also has an undergraduate medical school, schools of Pharmacy and Physiotherapy and faculties of Nursing, Dentistry, Radiology and Sports Medicine.

The RCSI Centre for Positive Health Sciences (CPHS) was established in 2019 in response to the increasing prevalence of diseases associated with lifestyle and the growing evidence of the role of psychological factors in optimising health and well-being.

The centre's mission is to enhance health and well-being through the application of positive psychology, positive organisational scholarship, and lifestyle, integrative and precision medicine.

The CPPH provides evidence-based resources to help enhance understanding of the critical role that our behaviour plays in optimising our health.

In particular, we are very interested in how the mind, brain and body interact in the context of maintaining health and wellness.

The successful candidate will be working on several funded research projects exploring nature-based wellbeing interventions, sustainable wellbeing and others.
