About NewERA
NewERA provides a dedicated centre of corporate finance expertise to the Government in relation to the oversight of State-owned companies.

About the Role
NewERA is seeking to appoint a Senior Advisor with this role having a particular focus on the Portfolio Companies within NewERA's remit that are operating in the property development and finance sectors and relevant knowledge/experience of these sectors is required.

The role will provide the successful candidate with broad exposure to a range of financial advisory assignments in the commercial State sector, working in a commercially driven environment that combines private sector best practices and a public sector remit.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to all aspects of NewERA's advisory role in relation to the commercial State companies for which NewERA has responsibility from a shareholder perspective (e.g., review and analysis of Portfolio Companies' proposals, identification of key financial and commercial issues) including oversight of delivery of their climate objectives. The successful candidate will lead in the preparation of high-quality reports and advice for Government Ministers and Departments) and will also have the opportunity to engage with Government Departments and the Portfolio Companies.

Principal Responsibilities
The successful candidate ongoing responsibilities will include:

• Assist in the oversight from a shareholder perspective of a number of the Portfolio Companies with a focus on the Portfolio Companies within NewERA's remit that are operating in the property development and finance sectors.
• Lead reviews of material elements of transactions or activities being undertaken by the Portfolio Companies (e.g., capital expenditure, funding, disposals, acquisitions, joint ventures).
• Assist with developing/reviewing strategic initiatives capable of being implemented that would add value to the Portfolio Companies.
• Assist in oversight of the delivery of climate objectives (e.g., decarbonisation / sustainability strategies) by Portfolio Companies including engagement with relevant stakeholders
• Capable of multi-tasking and working largely independently across a number of ongoing complex assignments.
• Act as a point of contact and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, in particular, Government Departments and relevant Portfolio Companies.
• Lead development of high-quality reports, including preparation and reviewing of same, to provide independent and objective financial advice to Ministers.
• Provide guidance and support to other members of the NewERA team.

Educational Requirements

• Membership of a professional accountancy or similar financial body desirable (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CFA)

Experience

• Candidates should have a minimum of 15 years' experience in a relevant financial role in professional services, advisory or a commercial organisation of scale. Experience in property development and/or property finance is required.

• Experience in project-based forecasting / analysis an advantage
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Project management skills and experience working to tight deadlines
• Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while simultaneously seeing the bigger picture enabling them to make informed recommendations
• A self-starter who can work on their own initiative while also having the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Team guidance and support skills

Pension Abatement

If an appointee has previously been employed in the Civil or Public Service and that appointee is entitled to or in receipt of a pension from the Civil or Public Service or where a Civil/Public Service pension comes into payment during the appointee's re-employment that pension will be subject to abatement in accordance with Section 52 of the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and other Provisions) Act 2012.
