Our Client, The Land Development Agency (LDA) is a key Government Commercial Semi-State Body that delivers social and affordable housing on State and other lands. It is overseen by an independent board of directors and is funded with €3.75 billion of equity capital committed by the Government. It is also permitted to borrow up to €1.25bn

The LDA has commenced construction on various state sourced lands and is currently working on about 20 direct delivery projects that can deliver over 8,000 homes. It is also delivering affordable housing by working with private sector on an initiative called 'Project Tosaigh', which will yield a further 5,000 homes on land provided by housebuilders.

Additionally, the LDA is working on large-scale longer-term strategic areas by master-planning and bringing forward planning applications in locations such as Limerick Colbert Quarter, the Digital Hub in Dublin and Sandy Road in Galway.

The LDA is underpinned by a positive, collegiate, 'can do' culture based on our core values of Integrity, Results, Collaboration, Sustainability and Innovation. Our team is around 160 people and growing rapidly.

Role Purpose

This is a hands-on role for finalist or recently qualified financial accountant to take up a challenging position supporting the finance function and managing the accounting process of this recently established agency.

Key Objectives / Accountabilities:

Completion of varying finance processes and reporting within the LDA's finance function including (but not limited to) monthly accounts preparation and reconciliations, management reporting and audit assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

· Management of general ledger for new group corporate structure

· Preparation of month end financial close and reporting pack

· Balance sheet reviews and reconciliations

· Assisting with projects including new accounting system implementation

· Review of PO process and invoice authorisation with AP Manager

· Assistance in the preparation of VAT, PSWT, RCT and PAYE reconciliations

· Preparation of annual statutory financial statements under FRS102

· Liaising with Development managers regarding financial aspects of development projects

· Supporting the delivery of internal and external audits, including the Comptroller & Auditor

· Ad-hoc reporting for the Head of Finance including the preparation of responses to Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information requests.

Knowledge & Experience:

Essential Criteria

· Finalist or member of a professional accounting body (ACCA, ACA, CIMA etc) with minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role

· Previous experience in monthly financial accounting and statutory accounts preparation

· Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with experience in other Microsoft Packages

· Working knowledge of FRS.

· Organised and efficient with excellent attention to detail

· Knowledge of general ledger applications functionality

· Ability to work in a team and to business partner with other Departments

· A willingness to embrace challenge and work within an evolving / changing environment

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Desired Criteria

· Industry exposure; knowledge of construction industry/property development or capital investment projects

· Exposure to the semi state sector would be advantageous.

· Experience working within a medium sized finance team

· Sage 200c experience

Competency Profile:

· Results orientated and experience working to tight deadlines.

· Ability to lead and implement business processes

· Highly organised and focused

· Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a wider team
