Overview:
We have an exciting career development opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.

As a leading member of the Mechanical Design team, you will work to ensure projects meet requirements, are delivered on time and within budget, and report to the Mechanical Design Team Leader.

You will design, develop, and deliver the mechanical aspects of custom automation equipment.

This role requires a balance of strong technical skills, people and process awareness, and an understanding of current best practices while striving for continuous improvement in technologies and processes.

This role demands advanced knowledge of automation technologies and trends, as well as a working knowledge of disciplines involved in delivering such technologies and solutions.

It is a customer-facing role with responsibility for understanding and meeting customer needs and requirements, while developing lasting partnerships with key customers.


Key responsibilities:
Contribute to all stages of the project from proposal, through execution, delivery, and review. Monitor and report on project progress, including technical updates, scope, schedule, and cost against the plan. Design and develop equipment to meet customer requirements. Perform engineering calculations and component specifications as needed. Lead design reviews both internally and with customers. Work according to the project plan and schedule as determined by the design lead. Collaborate closely with cross-departmental project teams. Ensure project requirements are understood. Plan project tasks for yourself and any resources you are responsible for, ensuring completion within the projects. Comply with all relevant quality standards (revision control, documentation, procedures, etc.). Present designs at design reviews with clear and effective communication. Mentor junior members of the department. Delegate and ensure the delivery of tasks where necessary. Travel as required.

Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. 5+ years of relevant industry experience. Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or an equivalent 3D CAD design package. Experience in executing mechanical design projects, from concept through to delivery, preferably in an automation environment.
