Environmental Technician Contract Duration/Type:

Permanent Location:Mulhuddart, Co Dublin 39 Hours per week Overview of the role; The candidate will have overview and responsibility for ensuring that the Environmental Services function at a leading Multi-national Biopharmaceutical plant is operated on an on-going basis in conformance with all relevant legislation, licences and permits.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of the site environmental services tasks ensuring the smooth operation of the sites Wastewater Treatment Plant, Storm Water System, Firewater Retention System Site Drainage System, Site Bunds and site environmental sampling and monitoring schedules etc.

There will be an element of on call required.

Day to Day of the Role:

Conducts daily environmental inspections in all areas under the remit of the Environmental Services Contract as per EPA license requirements and owner's requirements.

Inspects, samples, analyses the Wastewater Treatment Plant Process and makes process changes when required to ensure optimum operation of the plant.

Laboratory analysis skills for a range of tests including but not limited to; pH, conductivity, COD, Total Phosphorous, Total Nitrogen, Ammonia, Suspended Solids, Sulphate and % dried Solids.

Knowledge of Analytical Quality Control (AQC) would be advantageous.

Ensures that waste is properly identified, stored and disposed of in accordance with statutory laws, EPA licence requirements and Owners requirements.

Inspections, sampling and testing of site bunds contents and safe disposal of contents once sample results are known.

Liaise with site maintenance team in relation to equipment repairs and routine PMs to ensure no plant downtimes utilising the CMMS.

Investigates hazardous spills, gathering evidence, and retracing sequences to determine the sources of reported spills.

Liaising with third party vendors to ensure all monitoring required is carried out as per EPA licence/Owners requirements in a safe and complaint manner.

Issuing/Approving work permits for works to be carried out in the area.

Compilation and issuing of weekly snapshot reports and participation in daily OPEX meetings Shift cover (days only) as required to provide holiday cover for shift colleagues.

Other duties as may be assigned.

Required Skills for the Role:

Level 5 FETAC course in Water or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations or a Degree in Environmental Science / Engineering Candidates not possessing the above requirements may be still considered if they have sufficient experience to show the level of proficiency required for the role.

Candidates must also be willing to participate in further training to ensure continuous improvements in knowledge.

The Candidate should have at least 2 years' relevant experience, ideally in in an EPA licenced industry with knowledge of water or wastewater treatment plant operations.

Knowledge in Environmental Management Systems - ISO desirable Knowledge Environmental Monitoring and analysis. Excellent communicator skills in writing, presentations and interpersonal communication. Developed teamwork skills. Waste Water Treatment - operation, maintenance, sampling and analysis, troubleshooting desirable.

Environmental Monitoring Fully proficient in Microsoft office Commitment to continuous learning Knowledge of Environmental Legislation, Industry Guidance and Codes of Practice desirable.


Good attention to detail Practical:
Client and solution focused. Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) experience is desirable
