Business Intelligence Senior Analyst (Maternity Leave Cover)

Job Description

(Temporary 9-months contract as a maternity leave cover)

SUSE is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Intelligence Analyst with at least 3 years of expertise in Power BI. This position is a temporary contract to backfill a resource who will be on maternity leave for 9 months. As a Business Intelligence Senior Analyst, you will join our IT Business Applications team and play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our business intelligence solutions using Power BI. Your work will directly contribute to provide valuable business insights and data analytics to support decision-making across the organization. This will in turn support business growth in line with our ambitious objectives and company culture.

The role and sits within the IT Data Analytics and Data Governance team, reporting into the Head of Analytics and Reporting who is Dublin based. The position can be either hybrid or remote with a start date in October.

Focus Areas

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including business analysts, managers, and executives, to understand their reporting needs and analytical requirements and translate them into actionable reports.
  • Design, develop, and implement business intelligence solutions using Power BI.
  • Create visually appealing reports, dashboards, and interactive visualizations to present complex data in a clear and intuitive manner.
  • Development of efficient data governance to ensure accuracy, integrity, and efficiency
  • Optimize data models and queries to enhance performance and scalability of Power BI solutions.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends and patterns to draw insights that drive actionable business decisions.
  • Maintain and enhance existing Power BI solutions based on user feedback and evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality across all reports.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, addressing data-related concerns and troubleshooting issues.
  • Improve our user enablement strategy in line with the SUSE's data strategy.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in business intelligence and data visualization.
  • Work in an agile environment, participating in agile ceremonies, and delivering results iteratively.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years' of professional experience as a Business Intelligence Senior Analyst, with a strong focus on Power BI.
  • Proven expertise in designing and developing business intelligence solutions using Power BI, including data modelling, report development, and dashboard creation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Power Query, DAX, and M query languages.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts, data integration, and ETL processes.
  • Proficiency in working with various data sources such as SQL databases, Google platform, Excel files, CSV, APIs, etc.
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data.
  • Familiarity with data visualization best practices and principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Experience with other business intelligence tools and technologies is a plus (e.g., Tableau
  • Experience with Agile concept of working and JIRA ticketing could be a plus
  • Prior experience in a temporary contract or backfill role is desirable.
