Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Area Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of multiple wastewater treatment sites and associated infrastructure.
This key leadership role will involve overseeing planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring operational excellence, and leading a team of site-based staff.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in facilities or utilities operations and a proven ability to manage and develop people in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient running of multiple operational sites
Lead and support site-based teams including technicians, supervisors, and contractors
Plan, coordinate, and monitor planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair work
Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and standards
Monitor performance and operational KPIs, identifying areas for improvement
Liaise effectively with internal teams, external clients, and regulatory authorities
Ensure appropriate staffing levels, training, and resourcing across the area
Participate in out-of-hours call-out rota where required (if applicable)
Skills & Experience Required
Demonstrable experience in team leadership and people management
Background in utilities, water/wastewater treatment, facilities management, or related sectors
Strong understanding of maintenance processes and asset management
Excellent organisational, communication, and decision-making skills
Able to manage multiple sites and priorities simultaneously
Awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations (IOSH/NEBOSH desirable)
Full UK driving licence (essential)
Qualifications
Degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Environmental Science, Facilities Management, or similar (preferred)
Equivalent industry experience will also be considered
