The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon is essential to our operations, responsible for maintaining vital machinery to ensure continuous operation.
As an RME Technician, you will be tasked with maintaining a variety of equipment and workspaces, adhering to Health and Safety standards, and contributing to a safe and efficient environment.
Your role involves enhancing equipment availability and quality, as well as supporting operational improvements.
Key job responsibilities
Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on diverse site equipment
Conduct reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
Utilize advanced tools to maximize equipment effectiveness
Maintain compliance with health and safety policies and practices
Assist in the development and training of on-site apprentices
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices across EU sites
A day in the life
Based on-site, RME Technicians respond swiftly to machinery issues, carrying out planned preventative maintenance to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
They respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose problems, and implement solutions, while also suggesting long-term improvements.
The role involves routine tasks such as painting and plumbing, liaising with external contractors, and working various shifts to provide 24/7 support.
About the team
The RME team maintains and repairs equipment across Amazon's global fulfillment centers, working on installing automation systems, maintaining buildings, and ensuring compliance and safety.
The team offers opportunities for career progression within RME and across Amazon, focusing on minimizing downtime to ensure timely customer deliveries.
The work may include night shifts and the adoption of new technologies like Amazon Robotics and the Complex Item Sorter.
Basic Qualifications
NFQ6 (Higher Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Engineering) or Solace/Solas Level 6 in Mechanical/Electrical or Mechatronics
Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems
Fault-finding experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE)/Automation systems
Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
Experience with conveyor maintenance, motor controllers/inverters
Preferred Qualifications
Apprentice Trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng
High voltage switching experience
Experience with sortation machines
Experience maintaining/configuring barcode scanners
Experience with print and apply machines
Fault diagnosis on building systems such as HVAC, dock doors, plumbing, and general maintenance
