AtkinsRéalis one of the world's leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland.We are seeking a Resident Engineer for a high-profile road / cycling / active travel scheme in the east of Galway City, for an estimated ***** months, commencing Nov ****.The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in roads/transport infrastructure.The candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, flexible, willing to take responsibility and comfortable in working with a site team.The role will involve site-based supervision, contract administration, stakeholder and client liaison, reporting, monitoring and inspection of construction activities; in tandem with a full-time Senior Resident Engineer and Clerk of Works/Inspector.Job summary and desirable skills / attributes:Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering.Relevant years of experience in the civil engineering industry, including experience in the supervision & administration of Public Works Contracts for Civil Engineering Works.Computer literate and with experience of relevant software (AutoCAD or similar) and Microsoft Office programmes.Experience in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts; including processing of Valuations, and assessment of Claims.Experience in supervising and inspecting the construction of roadworks including pavement, drainage, ducting, signage, lighting, etc.Experience in the design of road / active travel schemes (desirable but not mandatory).Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Experience in record keeping and reporting on Contractor's progress.Ability to work as part of a team and also work independently and under own initiative to achieve project goals.Knowledge of current H&S regulations and best practices.Full driving licence and a valid SafePass.Personal qualities:Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.Flexible approach with ability to be able to multi-task and prioritise when necessary.Positive outlook and approachable manner.Well-motivated, able to work alone or as part of a team when required.Terms and Conditions:Competitive salary subject to experience.A vehicle will be provided for the duration of the works.25 days annual leave, with the option to purchase an additional 5 days.Working week of 8 hrs per day, 5 days per week; with possibility of some weekend and night works (only if and when required).About Us:At AtkinsRéalis we put Environment, Sustainability and Health & Safety at the heart of our business strategy.We possess a significant breadth of knowledge and depth of skills and experience for the ultimate benefit of our clients.We build long-term trusted partnerships to create a world where lives are enriched through the implementation of our ideas.Together with our clients, we're always striving to find better ways to get things done.We are a certified CPD Accredited employer with Engineers Ireland and we were named Engineers Ireland CPD Employer of the year in ****.We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community - a place where we can all be ourselves, thrive and develop.To help embed inclusion for all, from day one, we offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements and employee networks to support staff from different backgrounds.As an Equal Opportunities Employer, we value applications from all backgrounds, cultures, and ability.
