Meet the team
We are responsible for the design, maintenance and operations of RTÉ's shared Cloud Infrastructure, including compute, network, storage and security.
We are looking for a Senior Network Security Engineer.
You will design, implement and operate system-level network and security architectures, systems and processes necessary to assure appropriate access to and security of the sensitive data and broadcast critical infrastructure in the organisation.
Reporting to the Cyber & Network Security Lead, working with Technology administrators and staff to configure and support security tools such as firewalls, anti-virus software, patch management systems, asset management systems, etc.
About the role:
Help implement security policies, application security, access control and corporate data safeguards
Research security threats and continuously evaluate our posture against their findings.
Monitor for threats within the environment
Provide access to third party applications in accordance with system policies and procedures
Work with application and infrastructure teams to design system-level access
Assist in ensuring existing installations meet policy requirements
Monitor operation of network security solutions and perform log and malware analysis.
Analyse security requirements and recommend improvements or enhancements
Collaborate to develop, support, and maintain all required system design and build documents and other system documentation
Troubleshoot and/or resolve application issues and escalate more complex issues as appropriate

About you:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field
Security certifications may be advantageous
5 years+ experience in the field of Cyber Security
10 years+ experience in Information Technology
Experience with configuring and maintaining firewalls, endpoint EDR and other security solutions
A strong understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and security fundamentals
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Nice to have - but not essential
A working knowledge of programming and scripting
Familiarity with private and public cloud technologies
A general knowledge of law, Irish & EU, in this area, e.g.
GDPR, NIS 2
Good teaching, interpersonal, and communication skills
Experience with Windows (server and client), Linux and Macs
Experience configuring and maintaining network routers and switches

This appointment will be made at the Senior Broadcast Engineer grade and is being offered on an ongoing contract basis.
The salary scale for this grade is from €61,707 to €74,713 gross per annum.
