Position Description The successful applicant will be appointed to the role of HV Stations Designer and will provide the required services in areas of HV station design in a timely and cost-effective manner to facilitate delivery of capital and maintenance projects and programmes.
The designer will also provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
The designer must be able to understand the methodology of station control systems, network operations and protection schemes, safety implications, have develop detailed knowledge of station HV equipment and knowledge of station policy.
Key Responsibilities Scoping & costing of projects in HV SubstationsFeeding into the capital approval process and providing the required informationLiaising with designers depending on the size and type of project e.g.
Customer Delivery, E&MP etcLiaising with major developersPreparation of detailed designs, including Layouts, Schematics & Wiring schedulesCompletion of Design Risk Assessments & Preliminary H&S PlansTaking part in the pre-commissioning processComply with safety legislation and act as PSDP contact on projects on behalf of the PSDPCompletion of as Builts schematics and layoutsProficiency in one CAD/CAE System such as MicroStation or AutoCADExperience with an Electrical Design CAE system such as EPlan or AutoCAD ElectricalProficiency in Microsoft office suiteProficiency or Experience in use of SAP based costing systemsProvide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.Knowledge, Skills, and Experience A minimum of 3 years electrical experience or equivalent design work experience is essentialA Track record in Implementing standards, policies and quality systems to ensure optimum designsDisplays a Knowledge of HV network assets – HV StationsUnderstands and applies relevant approved Quality Management systems and standards.Has the knowledge and ability to effectively utilise the relevant IT systems associated with the roleQualifications A minimum QQI Level 6 Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent or higher qualification.
Location These positions will be based in Dublin/ Flexible in Southern Region

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week.
