Overview
As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT) Manager, you will lead a team of technicians, providing guidance on hardware deployments, diagnostics, and decommissions.
You will monitor technician performance, KPIs, and SLAs, and model leadership principles, provide training, and support career growth.
Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) powers our cloud services.
As a CO+I DCT Manager, you will contribute to delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Azure platform.

Responsibilities
Deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring, while promoting a positive and effective team culture.
Accountable for overall data center service compliance and quality.
Provide guidance on and ensure compliance with Data Center Services (DCS) policies, procedures, deadlines, and service-change policies.
Ensure technicians are trained on installation, deployment, replacement, and post-execution quality checks.
Verify post-execution quality checks and take corrective action as needed.
Escalate issues through appropriate channels and follow up on resolutions; share knowledge with relevant teams.
Review process changes for impact on service execution and communicate changes to stakeholders.
Lead team and triage meetings, prioritize work, and rebalance priorities as needed.
Complete required safety training, conduct daily safety briefings, and participate in on-site safety committees.
Ensure technicians and vendor resources comply with safety procedures (PPE, equipment use, lifting, electrical hazards, ladders/steps).
Promote a culture of safety and empower technicians to speak up and report concerns.
Demonstrate accountability for service quality, completeness, and customer experience.
Embed the company culture and values in daily work.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; basic knowledge of computer hardware and components; experience supporting IT equipment or related technology; or related experience with technical teams.
Experience directing, supervising, or managing others.
Ability to work shifts, including non-standard hours, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Background Check Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check (upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter).
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
Experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
Experience in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment.
Applicable certifications: ITIL Foundation, ASICS/Inventory Control, CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC), Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Six Sigma Green Belt.
Experience leading diverse, technical, or IT workforce of up to ten employees.
