Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement function across projects in Ireland and the UK.
This is a senior leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, supplier relationship management, and the ability to drive cost efficiency while ensuring quality and compliance.
As part of a well-established Tier 1 main contractor with a strong pipeline of landmark projects, you will play a pivotal role in shaping procurement strategy, managing supplier performance, and delivering value across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and implement procurement strategy to support major construction projects in Ireland and the UK.
Manage the full purchasing cycle: supplier selection, negotiation, contract management, and delivery.
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers/manufacturers to ensure reliability, quality, and competitive pricing.
Negotiate framework agreements and long-term contracts to secure value.
Provide leadership, training, and performance management to the procurement team.
Work with project managers, estimators, and site teams to forecast material requirements and ensure timely supply.
Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supply chain risks.
Ensure compliance with policies, contracts, and Irish/UK legislation.
Oversee supplier performance reviews and manage dispute resolution.
Support sustainability by promoting responsible sourcing and reducing environmental impact.
Drive cost-saving initiatives and value engineering opportunities.
Report on KPIs, cost trends, and supplier performance.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
7–10 years' procurement experience within construction, with at least 3 years in a senior/leadership role.
Proven experience managing procurement on large-scale projects in Ireland and/or the UK.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
In-depth knowledge of construction materials and supply chain practices.
Familiarity with Irish and UK construction standards/regulations.
Proficiency with ERP/procurement systems (e.g. COINS or equivalent).
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
