Overview of roleClinical Nurse Manager II - UPMC Aut EvenLocation: Aut Even HospitalJob type: Fixed TermResponsibilitiesThe post of CNMII has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the theatre area.The CNMII will co-ordinate and lead in the implementation and provision of quality care.Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence based, care planning approachProvide a high level of professional and clinical leadershipBe responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, delivery and review of service user care by all staff in designated areaProvide safe, comprehensive nursing care to service users within the guidelines laid out by NMBI (Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland)Participate in teams / meetings / committees as appropriate, communicating and working in co-operation with other team membersFacilitate co-ordination, co-operation and liaison across healthcare teamsCollaborate with service users, family, carers and other staff in treatment / careAssess, Plan, Implement and evaluate nursing care by personal involvement and supervising the activities of other qualified nursesEnsure that the care delivered by the team is based on standards formulated on evidence based practice and agreed through hospital policyRegularly evaluate and monitor patient care using the hospital's quality systemsDevelop and promote good relationships with patients and carersWork as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team promoting good teamwork and excellent patient careEvaluate and further develop the philosophy, objectives and goals of the departmentEnsure all staff are familiar with the use and care of equipment and that equipment is maintained in good working conditionEnsure strict confidentiality of information regarding patients/residentsManagerial responsibilitiesThe CNM2 will provide the necessary supervision, co-ordination and deployment of nursing and support staff to ensure the optimum delivery of care in the designated area through allocating work fairly and competently.Manage communication at departmental level and facilitate team buildingProvide staff leadership and motivation conducive to good working relations and performanceManage all resources efficiently and effectivelyLead on practice development within the clinical areaLead and implement changePromote, facilitate and participate in the development of nursing policies and procedures, monitor and lead on proactive improvementContribute to the formulation, development and implementation of policies and procedures at area and hospital levelSupport the CNM3 and deputise in their absence when requiredMaintain clinical and administrative records and reporting arrangementsPersonnelFollow uniform policy referenceGeneralFrom time to time there may be a requirement to work in other areas of the hospital as requested by line managementStaff must must be kept secure and not left where unauthorised persons can access them.Qualifications & ExperienceQualifications:Be registered in the General Division of the live Register of Nurses kept by NMBIIt is desirable to have completed a recognised post-registration course in Peri-Operative CareExperience:At least two years' experience in a management position in theatres is desirableDesirable to have completed a recognised post-registration course in Peri-Operative CareJob Specific Competencies and Knowledge:Have completed a Management Course or commit to undertake sameDisplay evidence of continuing professional developmentDemonstrate awareness of HR policies and proceduresWorking knowledge of Microsoft packages is essentialExperience in change managementPersonal Competencies:Display evidence of continuing professional developmentEnsure professional and personal conduct reflects the nursing profession and Aut Even HospitalTime management skillsAble to act quickly to address urgent
