About this role:
The Pepper Legal team is an agile, highly focused unit providing professional legal support to a wide variety of business areas.
This is a strategically important role for an experienced and commercially minded legal counsel who enjoys working autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
As the primary point of contact for those business areas located in our Shannon office it is expected that the Senior Legal Counsel will have sufficiently broad experience and flexibility to support business requirements as needed.
The Senior Legal Counsel will report directly to the Head of Legal.
Location:
Shannon, required onsite 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Litigation: Serve as the primary liaison with external legal service providers to proactively address inward litigation matters and contentious inquiries impacting Pepper Advantage and its stakeholders.
While external legal service providers will be engaged in all outward litigation matters, the Senior Legal Counsel will be the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and will provide strategic, commercially considered, advice and support to relevant business areas to protect Pepper Advantage's interests.
Maintenance and validation of all litigation registers to ensure all management information provided to both internal stakeholders and clients is valid and robust.
General Legal: Engage and liaise with external legal service providers to ensure continuous improvements are being achieved in terms of cost management and process efficiencies.
Represent Pepper Legal and act as the primary point of contact for those business areas located in the Shannon Office.
Foster a culture of legal excellence and continuous improvement, contributing to knowledge sharing and capability development across the team.
Business Support: Advise executive and senior leaders on a broad variety of legal and regulatory matters.
Participate in due diligence and portfolio migration as required
Active participation and collaboration with all stakeholders in internal projects, programmes and initiatives.
Skills & Experience
Solicitor qualified to practice in Ireland with minimum 7 years PQE (essential).
Relevant litigation experience is essential.
Insolvency experience would be an advantage.
Proven ability to interact with executive and senior leadership.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic and high-pressure environment managing multiple high priority matters simultaneously with flexibility and resilience.
Previous in-house experience in a regulated environment would be an advantage.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Demonstrated capability to work independently but also an ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Regulatory Requirements for this Role
Fitness & Probity.
This role is a Fitness and Probity Standards-impacted role and has been classified as a Controlled Function (CF).
This has been designated a CF2 Role as described below: CF2 Ensuring, controlling or monitoring compliance by a regulated financial service provider with its relevant obligations.
You will be required to agree to abide by the Fitness & Probity Standards and complete all required due diligence checks.
IAF: Conduct Standards Please note the Common Conduct Standards apply to this role.
They impose a set of conduct obligations on individuals carrying out CFs within Pepper.
These standards are prescribed in the Individual Accountability Framework and subject to regulatory reporting for non-compliance.
