As a Senior Engineering Manager in our Platform Engineering group, you will be a key technical leader responsible for the DevOps team.
You'll play a crucial role in shaping our technology strategy, fostering innovation, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of our build and deployment strategy.
As the leader of the DevOps team, you will work closely with the wider Engineering team to make sure that developing and deploying code is as smooth as possible.
What will I be doing?
Lead and manage the DevOps team within Engineering.
This growing team owns all of the systems, tools and services which enable our product to be built, tested and deployed safely into our customer's hands
Set the strategic direction for DevOps, making decisions on deployment strategy, testing strategy, and operational excellence.
Hire, mentor and grow top engineering talent within the DevOps space.
Drive key technical and design discussions within the Platform Engineering group
Drive execution of product and technology road map by collaborating with Engineering, Product, Partnerships, and other business partners
Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve system reliability, scalability, and developer velocity, working closely with Product Engineering teams
Create a collaborative work environment that fosters ownership, accountability, transparency and innovation
Be a role model who inspires people to action and holds a high bar for craftsmanship
Drive alignment across the org in creating the overall long-term technology road map
Manage relationships with key technology partners and vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring optimal value for LearnUpon
Ensure the adoption of best practices in software development, infrastructure management, and DevOps across all engineering teams
Contribute to the overall technology vision and roadmap for LearnUpon, partnering with the VP of Engineering
What skills do I need?
5+ years of hands-on technical management experience
5+ years of programming experience in software design and development in an object-oriented programming language such as Python, Ruby, GoLang
5+ years of experience on one or more of the following technical areas: Cloud Computing (e.g AWS), CI/CD, SDLC, Containerization and Orchestration
Deep knowledge of current trends and best practices in software design and architecture, including performance, security and scalability
A passion for software engineering craftsmanship and developer experience
Superb written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
Strong management skills for planning and executing complex projects

Experience working with and leading team members in multiple locations
Experience in building internal tools and leveraging 3rd party tools and services effectively and efficiently
A passion for excellence in software development, especially the tools and processes around getting code into production
Experience building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure, working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
Experience working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
Track record of recruiting and growing top talent
A technology qualification (Degree or equivalent) in a field of study such as Computer Science or Engineering
