Overview
Electrical Design Engineer role requiring a Level 7/8 degree in Electrical Engineering, with experience in the Water & Wastewater sector preferred.
The role reports to the Electrical Department Manager and involves working with multiple engineering disciplines to deliver optimum design solutions.
Responsibilities
Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability & Quality standards, policies and procedures are integrated into all designs and outputs.
Collaborate with Process, Mechanical, Control & Automation, Civil and Structural engineering disciplines to achieve an optimum design solution.
Compile and review site surveys and condition reports as required.
Electrical design duties include: electrical load balances, MIC load calculations, medium voltage design, generator design and sizing for back-up, general electrical services design, lighting and emergency lighting, earthing and lightning protection, and cable sizing/cable schedules.
Review I/O listings and control panel drawings/schematics; assess specialist reports on harmonics and select equipment to mitigate harmonics.
Design for Solar PV generation, battery storage and renewable generators for small applications.
Conduct site surveys and preliminary condition reports on existing infrastructure/assets.
Procure/packages for LV works (Main Distribution Boards, MCCs, control panels, automation hardware/software, starters, electrical installation works, earthing, lightning protection) and MV works (distribution transformers, MV switchgear, specialist design services).
Procure and manage 3rd party design consultants; provide technical and commercial reviews of tender returns to ensure value for money and alignment with standards.
Provide detailed handover to site delivery teams, addressing design comments and construction queries.
Assist tendering team in preparation and pricing of electrical works.
Promote Glanua Business Strategy themes, including off-site manufacturing, digitalised ways of working and sustainability; encourage use of innovative technology within the team.
Support and coordinate with the tendering team on electrical aspects of submissions.
