Relief Support WorkersLocation: New Ross area, Co.WexfordContract Type: CasualClosing date: Monday, 15 September ****, 4:00 p.m.Join an Organisation You Can Be Proud OfSince ****, Cumas New Ross has empowered adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities to fully participate in their communities.Externally recognised for excellence we uphold the highest standards of care and professionalism, ensuring every individual's rights, preferences, and goals are at the heart of all we do.About the RoleAs a Relief Support Worker, you will support residents with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives.You will help with personal care, daily routines, and social activities, while promoting choice, dignity, and wellbeing.Role RequirementsMin. 5 modules of QQI Level 5 in Health Care Support/ Social Care completed and currently undertaking remaining modules or currently undertaking BA/BA (HONS) in Applied Social Studies in Social Care/ Nursing (year 2) or other relevant qualificationA minimum of 6 months' work experience working with individuals with intellectual disability/complex needs a distinct advantageFlexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, nights on a relief basis based on the needs of the serviceMust hold a full clean driving licence valid in Ireland and be willing to drive company vehiclesProficient in both oral and written English languageHave the legal right to work in Ireland and currently hold valid work authorisation for IrelandGood IT and report writing skills.What We Offer:Competitive payOpportunities to work shifts in New Ross area that suit your availabilityCompany pension employee assistance programAccess to the Hospital Saturday Fund (HSF) healthcare cash planBike to work schemeOpportunities for training, development career growthMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Relief Support Worker will:To support the Person in Charge with all aspects of the effective running of the residential serviceTo facilitate and implement a person-centred approach for residents appropriate to their wishes and goalsTo support residents with activities of daily living including personal care, mobility, meals, social activities, and household tasks.To facilitate, encourage and develop each resident's choice and decision-making skills, and ensuring the resident and their representatives are actively involved in the decision-making processEnsure that communication is adapted to meet individual needs, including the use of alternative and augmentative communication methods where appropriateTo enable each resident to pursue and maintain their individual hobbies and interests and facilitate residents to actively participate and integrate into the communityTo support develop the self-help and social skills of each resident enabling them to maximise their independence and control,To ensure the best possible health and wellbeing of residents in all areas of their lives including health and personal care.Monitor wellbeing and report concerns or changes in health status to relevant staff.Administer medication in line with prescribed guidelines and organisational proceduresBe familiar with and ensure that policies, procedures, and codes of practice of the Services are adhered toBe responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety of service users and staff and compliance with Health and Safety legislation, ensure reporting and recording of incidents meet the service standards and participate in incident reviews or other investigationsBe responsible for the safe use and care of equipment and report faulty equipment etc., as it arisesBe familiar and operate to fire regulations and emergency procedures and participate in the implementation of sameEnsure that all records in relation to individuals supported by the services are up to date, correctly filed and managed as per the service's records management systemTo manage risk in a systematic way that is embedded in a culture of safety, welfare and quality of life for residents.Report all accident/incidents and take appropriate action.Be fully familiar with safeguarding procedures;
