
Learning & Development Lead

Reporting to the Head of HR & Training, the Learning & Development Lead will be responsible for leading and supporting the effective functioning of all learning, people development, and training activities across the site.
The L&D Lead will work closely with all departments to ensure that employees receive the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively by assessing learning needs, designing training and development programmes, coordinating the rollout, and evaluating the effectiveness.
They will also ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with all regulatory and compliance requirements.
Areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:
Learning & Development
Act as the site learning and people development subject matter expert
Work with department heads and managers to conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the learning and development needs of employees
Design, develop, and coordinate innovative learning and development programmes to support the business activity site-wide
Develop processes to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of learning and development programmes
Develop and implement career development programmes to support employee growth and retention
Oversee and coordinate the site Yearly Development Review (YDR) process
Owner of Excellence Through People accreditation
Ensure the effective functioning of all aspects of the Employee Educational Assistance programme
Support all aspects of Apprenticeship Programmes (as required)
Oversee preparation and periodic review of Job Descriptions
Training
Support the induction/onboarding of new employees with an optimised Induction programme
Ensure site compliance for all mandatory training in accordance with regulatory requirements along with all corporate learning programmes
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of training initiatives
Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and outcomes
Management
Lead the L&D team and ensure the effective management of all aspects of the L&D function
Participate, as required, in the development & implementation of Human Resources policies & strategies
Provide advice and coaching around learning and development
Participate in internal and external compliance audits or regulatory inspections
Ensure all L&D policies and procedures are in place to support the strategy and KPIs
Prepare and manage the site L&D budget efficiently and identify any investment needed to support the L&D strategy
Future
Promote and sustain a culture of learning and development onsite
Lead the identification, development, and implementation of lean / innovative learning technologies and approaches
Build an internal and external network to support benchmarking of L&D best practices
Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments, and best practices
The successful candidate will be expected to work cooperatively and flexibly both within the HR & Training department and with other departments across the site.
They should demonstrate proven leadership ability and management skills, be performance and goal-oriented, with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Attention to detail, planning, organization, and multi-tasking abilities are essential.
Experience in process improvements, leading change, and strategic planning of L&D initiatives such as Talent Management, Business Partnering, Leadership Development, and Career Pathways is beneficial.
Candidates should ideally have a third-level qualification in HR / L&D or a related discipline and 5+ years of HR / L&D experience within a busy, operational environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
