Hospital Chef Grade 11 (39 hours per week permanent contract) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chef 2 to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway.

Job Purpose: Responsible for the preparation, production and distribution of food and beverages for patients, visitors, and staff to ensure a consistently high standard of quality, preparation and service in the relevant sections they may be assigned.
Ideal Candidate: Relevant third level catering qualification.
Management qualification is desirable but not essential A minimum of 2+ years' experience preferably within a hospital Strong interpersonal Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities Flexibility & Leadership Skills Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations Ability to work as part of a team dedicated to providing a quality service Good knowledge of catering equipment and systems used in the industry Relevant IT skills relevant to the position Responsibilities and Experience: Responsible for the preparation, cooking and punctual service of all food and meals which they may be asked to prepare, to a consistently high standard in a hygienic and safe manner.
Ensuring the same high standard is applied across all the areas of the hospital - i.e.
Canteen, Wards, Theatre, Endoscopy, etc.
Assists in instructing new and part-time members of staff in catering procedures and use of equipment in conjunction with Head Chef/Deputy Head Chef.
Liaises with Head Chef/Deputy Head Chef regarding the provision of special diets and ensures that Catering staff are aware of dietary needs.
Works from time to time with the Head Chef in the planning and development of menus for patients/visitors/staff meals, including special diets, healthy options, vegetarian, etc.
Works closely with Head Chef/Deputy Head Chef in the ordering, control and issuing of all catering supplies, ensuring agreed stock levels are maintained and consumption levels monitored.
To be aware of the demand for special diets and the particular instructions regarding preparation and cooking of same.
To ensure and be responsible for high standards of hygiene in their work area in accordance with Hygiene Regulations (HACCP), and for high standards in their own personal hygiene, including wearing proper attire, grooming, etc.
To be aware of and familiar with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene Regulations as well as Fire Regulations, and to attend compulsory Fire Lectures, Manual Handling Courses and other relevant Health & Safety Courses which are organised.
Ensure that Policies and Guidelines are adhered to.
