
Maintenance Technician

The Role:We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Technician/ Fitter to join a busy manufacturing environment.This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, fabrication, repair, and installation of machines and equipment.You will also respond to emergency breakdowns and play an active part in ensuring all machinery is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently.Initially working days, the successful candidate must be flexible and prepared to work shifts, overtime, and respond to callouts as required.Key Responsibilities:Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing, and repair work to minimise downtime.Diagnose faults and perform testing, repair and adjustments on machinery and equipment.Overhaul, maintain, and repair a wide range of plant machinery, including: Heading and forming equipment, Multi-spindle turning machines, Heat treatment furnace lines and support equipment, Plating line, Automatic inspection equipment and Packaging equipmentInstall new machines and assist with relocation of existing equipment.Work with stakeholders to develop effective solutions where specifications are limited.Support production in process improvements and efficiency initiatives.Provide technical advice to purchasing and liaise with external vendors.Manage and coordinate contractors on-site.Ensure all work is accurately documented.Promote and follow safe working practices in line with health, safety and environmental standards.Skills/Requirements:Recognised qualification in toolmaking or fitting.Experience in welding and fabricationStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Organised and able to manage priorities effectively.Self-motivated with a proactive approach.Confident communicator, both written and verbal.Computer literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and email applications.For a confidential conversation about the role contact Owen Clancy at By applying to this job post you agree that Sterling Engineering may process your personal data for recruitment purpose
