Caretaker – GalwayOur Residence Teams help shape and contribute to our community, giving back in the most environmentally friendly way, whilst being on hand with 1-2-1 support for our students with their studies, accommodation maintenance or something more personal.Our Caretakers support the on-site operations and are responsible for the upkeep of cleanliness across the residence, while also carrying out light maintenance and compliance checks.Duties include regular cleaning of communal areas, refuse and recycling management, painting and decorating, assisting with basic repairs, grounds upkeep, and supporting routine health and safety checks such as fire alarm testing and water checks.The role also encompasses housekeeping elements relating to the upkeep of student flats and common areas, with works agreed with the Operations Manager to ensure high standards are maintained across the site.You will keep a record of works carried out and update the Operations Manager of any issues that may arise.Critical to the success of this role is a close working relationship with the OM and the residence team to ensure that there is a seamless level of high customer service for our residents.It is essential that you have the ability to work on your own as well as part of a team and can communicate effectively at all levels.As this role requires (either fully or partially) lone working and can operate outside of normal office opening hours, effective communication for duty handover and the ability to evaluate and manage situations practically and level-headedly as and when they arise is an essential part of this role, escalating emergency issues to the OM where appropriate.Key ResponsibilitiesClean and maintain communal areas including hallways, stairwells, laundry, common rooms, reception, and management suites.Carry out deep cleaning of student flats during move-in/move-out periods, and as required throughout the year.Undertake daily site walks, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and security are maintained.Manage refuse and recycling areas, ensuring bins are emptied and kept tidy.Complete general maintenance and minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fittings, unblocking sinks, assembling furniture, and touching up paintwork.Support external contractors on site and report major repairs promptly to the Operations Manager.Assist with grounds upkeep including litter picking, light gardening, weed control, and power washing external areas.Support Health and Safety compliance checks including fire alarm testing, emergency lighting, water checks, and safe storage of cleaning products (training provided).Maintain stock of cleaning products and materials in line with COSHH regulations.Be familiar with fire evacuation procedures and assist during emergencies if required.Escalate urgent safety, security, or maintenance issues immediately to the Operations ManagRole Specific Skills and AbilitiesPrevious experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or caretaking.Basic knowledge of general maintenance (painting, simple plumbing, minor repairs).Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with residents, colleagues, and contractors.Physically able to undertake cleaning and maintenance duties including lifting and moving equipment.IT literate, competent with email and basic reporting systems.About UsBeing a member of the Now Student Living team requires an appreciation for the dedication to our core vision — to be the best choice for our students and our clients, as an innovative industry leader, to inspire them and grow together.Our Vision and Values are fundamental to Now Student Living's ultimate mission to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our residents, colleagues and visitors.Vision and ValuesAt Now Student Living, we stand for core brand values of Community, Accessibility and Sustainability — three pillars that inspire our brand name through everything we do.Job Type: Full-timePay: Up to €28,****** per yearBenefits:Company eventsSick payWellness programExperience:Cleaning: 1 year (required)Facilities maintenance: 1 year (preferred)Work authorisation:Ireland (required)Work Location: In person
