??Urgently Hiring: Mechanical Engineering Technician Join the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service?? Are you ready to put your skills to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment? Were looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technicianto join the dedicated team at the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS), based at their Service Support Centre, Boucher Crescent, Belfast.

This is afull-time role(Monday to Friday, 8:00am4:00pm) offering anattractive hourly rate of £19.11.

The initial contract is for6 months, with strong potential for extension based on performance.

As a Mechanical Engineering Technicianwithin the Fleet Mechanical & Engineering teamat NIFRS, you will play a key role in ensuring the operational readiness of all specialist vehicles and equipment across three regional workshops.

Your primary responsibilities will include: Inspection, diagnostics, planned maintenance, emergency repairs, bodywork, coach building, and modifications to a diverse fleet of emergency service vehicles and operational equipment.

Youll be expected to apply your expertise across multiple mechanical disciplines, demonstrating flexibility and technical excellence in every task.

To maintain 24/7 operational resilience, youll also participate in the Regional Standby Rota, providing critical out-of-hours support, including emergency repairs, equipment servicing, and vehicle recovery in response to live operational incidents.

What We Need From You: Possess a certified level 3 trade qualification in the NQF in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance and level 3 in NQF in vehicle system repair and replacement in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles Two years post apprenticeship experience working within trade role essential Qualified to safely install, maintain and fault find both 240v and 110v electrical systems on vehicles and equipment Possess a current full UK Class C driving licence (current UK category B+E licence is desirable however not essential) Competent in the use of Management Information Systems and IT software What We Will Offer You: Weekly pay Opportunity to work in the public sector The Next Steps: Contact Erin Robinson in our Belfast office Apply via the link First Choice is an equal opportunities employer Skills: Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Class C driving licence Vehicle Repair
