Senior Mechanic Technician

This is a key role within our Fleet Mechanical & Engineering team, responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of all specialist vehicles and equipment across three regional workshops.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections, diagnose faults, and perform planned maintenance on a diverse fleet of emergency service vehicles and operational equipment.
  • Apply technical expertise across multiple mechanical disciplines, demonstrating flexibility and technical excellence in every task.
  • Participate in the Regional Standby Rota, providing critical out-of-hours support, including emergency repairs, equipment servicing, and vehicle recovery in response to live operational incidents.
Requirements:
  • Certified level 3 trade qualification in the NQF in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance.
  • Level 3 in NQF in vehicle system repair and replacement in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles.
  • Two years post-apprenticeship experience working within a trade role.
  • Qualified to safely install, maintain, and fault find both 240v and 110v electrical systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Current full UK Class C driving licence (current UK category B+E licence is desirable but not essential).
  • Competent in the use of Management Information Systems and IT software.
