We are open to candidates who can fulfil one or more of the following locations/ work patterns: Dublin Cover Nurse Role Wednesday and Friday 08:00am-16:00pm.
An additional day of work will be scheduled each week, which will either be remote or involve covering a centre, depending on service requirements.
Fixed term 12-month contract.
Waterford: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 08:00am-16:00pm.
Permanent contract.
Additional hours (variable) will be available from time-to-time across all roles to provide cover for other Daffodil Centre, Support Line or external Cancer Awareness activities.

The Services Department offers advice, information and support to anyone worried about any aspect of cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and care, as well as a range of other services.
Main duties and responsibilities The post holder must be a registered nurse with oncology knowledge and experience who is able to discuss and assess complex cancer needs as well as related practical and emotional matters with anyone who contacts the Irish Cancer Society through our Daffodil Centres.
Although this role is primarily a Cancer Nurse role for our Daffodil Centres, the successful candidates may at be required to help on our Support Line, or at another Dublin Daffodil Centre or Cancer Awareness Event.
These duties will be allocated relevant to the candidates nursing experience and scope of practice.
Daffodil Centres Daffodil Centres, located in hospitals across Ireland, offer free supports and services.
We provide information and advice on various topics, including: Cancer prevention and early detection Diagnosis Cancer treatments and related side-effects Patient education End of life services Support and psychological care Main Duties and Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive cancer information, advice and support to patients, carers, the general public and healthcare professionals.
Answering queries about all aspects of cancer (face-to-face, telephone, email and written).
Refer service users to Irish Cancer Society services, as well as other relevant healthcare professionals and/or organisations in line with the hospital policies.
Deliver the Societys patient education programme locally in groups and online as required.
Act as a resource to the multidisciplinary teams in the hospital on information, supports and services available.
Participate and assist with the Irish Cancer Society exhibition stands at various workshops/conferences for both patients and healthcare professionals.
Adhere to all policies and procedures of both the Irish Cancer Society and the hospital.
Record and report all incidents/complaints involving staff and/or service users and assist in any investigation as required in accordance with the Irish Cancer Societys Complaints Procedure and that of the hospital.
Work with managers in the Irish Cancer Society and the hospital to develop and manage the Daffodil Centre, ensuring that it is providing an easily accessible and high-quality professional service.
Maintain good working relationships with nurses, consultants and other clinical staff involved in the delivery of cancer care within the hospital.
In conjunction with the Daffodil Centre Team Leaders and the Volunteer Manager, manage volunteers assigned to the Daffodil Centre, ensuring that they are available and maintain a presence, keeping the centre open at the designated times.
Document activities of the centre, including statistics on the number and demographics of patients/clients seen, number of telephone/email enquiries and satisfaction with service provided.
Maintain a knowledge base on developments in cancer care and of resources/services for cancer patients, particularly in the catchment area.
Be responsible for maintaining stock levels of up-to-date, high-quality information materials, including Irish Cancer Society materials (booklets/factsheets), which will be displayed in the Daffodil Centre.
Support Line: The Support Line is a free, non-judgemental and confidential service where anyone affected by cancer can talk to a cancer nurse.
Our enquiries come primarily by phone, email or via the Ask the Nurse section of the Irish Cancer Societys Online Community.
We also answer enquiries via social media and other digital channels.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive support, cancer information and advice to patients, carers, the public, and healthcare professionals through telephone calls, video calls, and email.
Refer service users to Irish Cancer Society services, as well as other relevant healthcare professionals and/or organisations, in line with the Societys policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality and anonymity in accordance with the Societys policies and procedures.
Make every effort to ensure that all information provided to enquirers is evidence-based.
Cancer Awareness The Cancer Awareness team plays a key part in helping to catch cancer early by delivering the Your Health Matters Roadshow and providing community information stands.
Roadshows are delivered in shopping centres in areas of most disadvantage.
Nurses provide confidential consultations, which includes lifestyle advice to improve peoples awareness of cancer signs, the importance of screening, positive lifestyle changes and to encourage medical care-seeking behaviour.
Main Duties and responsibilities: Work with the Cancer Awareness team to provide an integrated prevention and early detection service.
Provide health checks and information stands to support the prevention and early detection of cancer.
Offer support and advice on behavioural change and signpost to appropriate cancer screening and support services within the Society.
Provide information stands in both hospital and community settings.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Registered General Nurse, on the active register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Post registration qualification in cancer nursing (minimum of diploma level qualification).
Three years recent experience in cancer nursing.
The clinical knowledge, leadership and organisational capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level.
