Principal Electrical Design Lead

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our electrical design team and play a pivotal role in driving design excellence across a portfolio of high-impact projects in the Bio-Pharmaceutical and Food sectors.
The successful candidate will take on the role of Principal Electrical Design Lead, overseeing the planning, execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of electrical design activities across multiple concurrent projects.
Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development Provide leadership and direction to the electrical design team, ensuring consistency and quality across all Business Unit (BU) projects.
Recruit, mentor, and support the professional development of electrical designers.
Lead the spatial design efforts during feasibility and concept phases of projects.
Hire and onboard new design talent to support project demands and team growth.
Project & Resource Management Allocate and manage design resources effectively across BU projects.
Prepare and review project hour estimates and schedules, ensuring delivery within budgeted hours.
Independently manage projects and provide support to other team members as needed.
Conduct and chair design reviews with internal teams and clients to ensure alignment and quality.
Design Execution & Technical Excellence Lead the design and coordination of electrical systems in compliance with local, national, and international standards, as well as best industry practices.
Participate in site visits to plan, monitor, and review electrical installation designs.
Ensure the preparation of technical documentation aligns with project schedules and complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement Collaborate with other disciplines and the BIM department to drive continuous improvement and maintain PM Group's leadership in design technologies.
Contribute to departmental improvements, BTx initiatives, and the development of project delivery execution methods.
Develop and implement standard processes for project design execution within PM Group.
Industry Awareness & Strategic Insight Stay current with evolving regulatory requirements, including Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards.
Keep up to date with emerging technologies, design software trends, and industry standards relevant to the discipline.
Understand and anticipate future execution methodologies and industry best practices.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the market landscape, including upcoming client projects and competitor activities.
Qualifications Third Level Qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline 10+ years of formal experience in industrial engineering design Excellent verbal and written communication skills required Professional approach and demeanour A strong ethical approach to safety, quality, and sustainable design Knowledge of applicable electrical engineering codes, standards, and current industry best practices Ability to Co-ordinate with design team and external stakeholders Ability to undertake value engineering activities and implement innovative technologies and methods required to provide cost-effective solutions for our clients Demonstrable experience in the complete suite of electrical engineering design services and activities: Proficiency in the following design applications is essential: Auto Desk Revit Auto Desk Navisworks Auto Desk Auto CAD Dialux Lighting Design Software Caneco One - Electrical Engineering Software Suite Knowledge of the following design applications would be advantageous: Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL) Amtech Pro Design ETAP - Electrical Modelling Software If you do not match the above exactly but feel you fit the role, please apply anyway.
