Community & Hospital Services Manager

Direct Reports: Daffodil Centre Team Leads, and Community Team WHO WE ARE The Irish Cancer Society is a community of patients, survivors, volunteers, supporters, health and social care professionals and researchers.
Together, we are working to save lives and improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
Our servicesare available for anyone affected by cancer.
Our team of specialist cancer nurses assess the complex needs of Service Users to provide cancer related information and education on a wide range of topics, emotional support, and signposting/referring to services both internally and externally.
These nurses currently work in Daffodil Centres in hospitals around the country.
The Society in also in the process of exploring a Community Daffodil Centre option to deliver services in the heart of the community.
In addition, the Society has partnership relationships with Cancer Institutes, where new models of integrating our supports and services are being developed.
This newly created role is responsible for leading the teams working across these areas to ensure that people affected by cancer have access to the information, education, supports and services that they need.
They will work closely and in partnership with cancer directorate staff, external community partners, and internal colleagues, to develop, design and implement ways to integrate Irish Cancer Society supports and services into patient pathways, and community settings, and to support the Irish Cancer Society strategy, the National Cancer Strategy, and the goals of cancer teams across the country.

YOU WILL Be responsible for the leadership and management of Hospital Daffodil Centres, and the community delivery of Services Physically be present in these settings on a regular basis, to support staff, maintain relationships and champion the patient experience across the Service Support the integration of Irish Cancer Society services in clinical and non-clinical pathways, both in the hospital and community.
Community outreach is a new venture for the Irish Cancer Society, and one we are passionate to develop.
Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with cancer stakeholders across the ecosystem.
Support the Irish Cancer Society to fulfil its strategy, meet targets, and increase the reach of our services to anyone impacted by cancer.
Service development Work closely with Cancer Directorates in hospitals to ensure our Services are fully integrated into the patient pathways, and evolve as the patients needs evolve.
Develop and achieve support for proposals for enhanced integration to increase the reach of the Societys supports and services.
Develop new and innovative models for the delivery of or referral to Irish Cancer Society services, that support our strategy, the National Cancer Strategy and our partners strategies.
Work with stakeholders in the community to embed our Services in the relevant statutory and non-statutory organisations, to increase our reach.
Identify new partnerships or opportunities for outreach or engagement, and develop plans for implementation.
Maintain a knowledge base on developments in cancer care and of resources/services for cancer patients.
Keep up to date on new developments, and be a source of expertise, internally and externally, on best practice in supports and services for cancer care.
Develop and monitor budgets in accordance with the Irish Cancer Societys financial policies.
Quality, management and operational excellence Continually seek out innovative ways to develop our Daffodil Centre services and supports, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the work of the centres.
Input into the ongoing development of our CRM to capture information relevant to our Service Users, and champion the roll-out of case-management and data management systems and processes across the Daffodil Centres, and Hospital staff.
Regularly review and refresh operational policies, in line with best practice, and the development of our services.
Ensure operational policies and procedures are being adhered to, making sure our overall compliance is being met.
Assess and analyse Daffodil Centre activity (qualitative and quantitative) and use this data and insight to identify improvements and changes.
Produce and develop impactful reports to share with relevant stakeholders detailing activity and showcasing the impact of our work.
Ensure practices and standards in the Daffodil Centres comply with HIQA and JCI standards, through policies, procedures and risk management.
Relationships and stakeholder management Establish and maintainpositive working relationships with the hospitals cancer directorates generally, and be a visible and supportive presence across hospitals.
Attend Daffodil Centre steering group meetings, strategic partnership governance groups, and other key stakeholders meetings and groups, in person where required Create and maintain positive working relationships with Primary Care Teams, GPs, Cancer Support Centres, and Community Organisations, identifying opportunities for further partnership and collaboration Collaborate with the Services Team and all other relevant departments in the Irish Cancer Society on projects and day to day activities to help meet our strategic goals.
Promote and champion Irish Cancer Society services and our Daffodil Centres, including participating in Irish Cancer Society media campaigns, and attend internal and external events as required Team leadership Recognising the nature of the work of the team, ensure that all members of the team have access to, and participate in, peer support and supervision.
Lead a high-performing team, ensuring the development and advancement of staff.
Identify training and educational needs of the staff, and develop systems to ensure skills and competencies are developed and nurtured to meet the needs of the service.

A leader: you are able to positively lead people to meet their goals, delegate when needed and support a team in a developing service.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Registered General Nurse, on the active register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Post registration qualification in cancer nursing (minimum of diploma level qualification) Nursing management experience.
The Society measures experience in terms of experience gained, rather than years, but the typical candidate would have c.
5 years of management experience in a comparable role, and within the last 5 years.
Experience in the development or enhancement of patient pathways (clinical or non-clinical) and new service development is desirable.
Experience in Community Outreach development and implementation, preferably in the voluntary sector.
