Overview

We are recruiting for an Assistant Behaviour Therapist - Positive Behaviour Support Team. Ability West provides a wide range of high-quality services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County. Services provided are day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training and multi-disciplinary supports. Responsibilities
  • Support adults with complex support needs to maximise their quality of life and reduce behavioural challenges, via consistent implementation of support plans.
  • Complete day-to-day support tasks for people accessing Ability West services, including support with activities of daily living and personal care.
  • Implement all support plans as described, including Behaviour Support Plans and Mental Health Support Plans.
  • Support frontline colleagues in their implementation of plans, providing on-the-job coaching as appropriate and/or advising the Service Manager (PIC) that additional staff training is required.
  • Foster positive working relationships with people we support, staff teams and families/carers.
You

You will receive Clinical Supervision from the Positive Support Team and this role is ideal for a candidate seeking to accrue hours towards their Irish Society for Behaviour Analysis or Division of Behaviour Analysis membership.

Requirements

Formal Education/Training and/or Work Experience:

  • Third-level training at undergraduate or postgraduate level in behaviour analysis, psychology, nursing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years demonstrable work experience, effectively supporting people with significant behaviour support needs.

OR

  • A minimum of 5 years demonstrable work experience, effectively supporting people with significant behaviour support needs (without additional third-level training).

AND Experience of implementing MDT guidance and recommendations, including Behaviour Support Plans.

Knowledge and experience of working within a Positive Behaviour Support model of practice.

Previous attendance at crisis prevention and management training (e.g., Studio 3).
