Job Title: Staff Nurse

The Staff Nurse is a member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering nursing care within an evidence-based framework. The role requires providing a caring, efficient, and professional nursing service to meet the needs of patients and their families. Mercy University Hospital offers a successful New Graduate Transition Programme for all newly qualified nurses.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care of assigned patients.
  • Practice nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct laid down by the Nursing Board and Professional Guidelines.
  • Ensure patients are cared for in an optimal clinical environment, adhering to all nursing and hospital policies and guidelines.
  • Share professional knowledge and skills with colleagues.
  • Record documentation professionally, legibly, and promptly.
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional development.
  • Deputise for the CNM 2 as appropriate.
  • Follow the established lines of authority within the Nurse Management Structure.
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Current registration on the general division of NMBI.
  • Experience in an acute hospital environment within the last three years.

All applicants meeting the eligibility criteria (i.e., point 4 or higher on the staff nurse scale) will be eligible to apply for an enhanced nurse contract.
