Job Requirements
  1. Organise and coordinate activities for active daily living that will maintain interest and progression over time.
  2. Meet new residents, find out their interests and preferences and encourage them to attend activities.
  3. Consult with residents about the activities programme and where practical and appropriate respond to their wishes.
  4. Be proactive in forward planning events e.g., national/festive celebrations.
  5. Establish links with the local community and encourage cross-generational activities.
  6. Research new ideas and keep up to date with developments in activities for older people.
  7. Assist with producing the monthly activities bulleting and newsletter in collaboration with the MDT team and ensure that it is circulated to all residents.
  8. Ensure the activities programme reflects the wide range of individual needs, abilities, and preferences. Ensuring a diverse programme is provided that caters for everyone.
  9. Work as part of our MDT team.
What qualifies someone for this position?
  1. QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent or Level 5 Applied Social Care is essential.
  2. Previous experience working as an activity assistant or activity coordinator is an advantage.
  3. Working in a Care Environment or in Care of the Older Person within a residential care setting is desirable.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. An intuitive knowledge of the interests and needs of older people.
  6. Have a good knowledge of the HIQA Standards.
  7. A 'can-do' problem-solving attitude coupled with organisational skills.
  8. Have a teamwork approach and a flexible attitude.
  9. A commitment to undertake further training.
