Recruitment Manager @ ICDS Group (Construction & Civil Engineering sector recruitment for the UK, Ireland, Europe, North America, Australia)Reports to: O&M Manager
Urgent requirement for a Handyman to work on a major Power Plant in West Dublin.
The ideal candidate will have previous/current experience of working in heavy Industrial Facilities.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Understand instructions received and communicate clearly to ensure proper task execution.
- Perform regular cleaning of facilities and surrounding areas.
- Carry out small-scale maintenance and repair tasks.
- Conduct basic landscaping and upkeep of external areas.
- Execute minor construction repairs and small carpentry works.
- Replace lighting bulbs and perform light electrical work where appropriate.
- Repair equipment, machines and appliances when feasible.
- Identify, document and report necessary maintenance and repair work.
- Suggest improvements or additional repairs when identified.
- Operate emergency equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers) in compliance with local regulations (hydrants excluded).
- Support the general upkeep, functionality and safety of all non-process infrastructure within the plant.
Qualifications / Training / Experience:
- Minimum of 5-10 years of trades experience
- Professional certification or proven experience in areas such as carpentry, construction, electricity or general maintenance.
- Recognised training certificates and/or evidence of skills acquired through hands-on experience.
- Fluency in English/Understanding of Portuguese is optional but valued.
- Experience in maintenance roles in industrial facilities is valued.
- Experience in emergency response procedures or handling firefighting equipment is an advantage.
Skills:
- Basic knowledge in carpentry, construction, electricity and piping systems.
- Understanding of safe work methods and environmental protection procedures.
- Familiarity with basic tools and small repair equipment.
- Ability to use internal communication devices (radio, telephone, apps).
- Capacity to identify and act upon small maintenance needs proactively.
- Team-oriented, responsible, and autonomous in performing assigned tasks.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, evacuation routes and emergency procedures within a power plant environment.
- Knowledge of safe handling of fluids (fuels, lubricants, chemicals).
- Awareness of fire suppression systems (especially inert gas systems) and location of emergency equipment.
- Reliability in following maintenance routines, documenting tasks and escalating needs when appropriate.
