Title and Summary

Manager, Software Engineering Overview
The Corporate Solutions team is looking for a Manager, Software Engineering to help achieve time-to-market, quality excellence, and higher customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset. A Manager, Software Engineer position at MasterCard requires technical & people leadership skills that involves knowledge of software development & quality engineering to develop a resilient software product that is testable in close to fully automated manner. The role requires experience of managing one or more scrum teams having at least 10 members that work on software development using Agile methodology. Understanding of design patterns and technology is necessary for this role to ensure engineering excellence is achieved by the team all the time.

Role

You will be responsible for managing a team that does programming, testing, implementation, documentation, maintenance, and support of systems application software in adherence with MasterCard standards, processes, and best practices. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Manage a team of talented engineers to develop high-performance, high-volume Java applications.
  2. Work closely with technical architects and product owners to help define/prioritize features and user stories.
  3. Provide direction to the team that develops high quality, secure, scalable software solutions based on technical requirements specifications and design artifacts within expected time and budget.
  4. Work with project team to meet scheduled due dates, while identifying emerging issues and recommending solutions.
  5. Ensure team follows MasterCard Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.
  6. Contribute ideas to help ensure that required standards and processes are in place and actively look for opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency.
  7. Support collection and reporting of project and software metrics.

All about You

  1. Bachelor's degree in information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering.
  2. 10-13 years of experience working on scalable, multi-threaded software products developed using core Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Hibernate/JPA, Maven/Gradle, PL/SQL, Unix/Shell scripts and deployed on Tomcat/PCF. Angular is good to have.
  3. Experience managing one or more scrum teams of software engineers and performing line management duties such as performance reviews, talent planning, compensation planning, etc.
  4. Experience using Agile methodology and working with cross-functional teams and actively managing all scrum ceremonies such as elaborations, sprint planning, retrospectives.
  5. Knowledge of both RESTful APIs, microservices & good to have understanding of SOAP APIs.
  6. Knowledge of Cloud Native Development such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) & AWS.
  7. Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
  8. Knowledge of test automation frameworks & related tools such as Selenium, Rest-assured, TestNG, Postman.
  9. Good understanding of Java/microservices design patterns is expected.
  10. Knowledge of common industry standard best practices.
  11. Experience working in a dynamic and collaborative work environment and making independent decisions.
  12. Excellent verbal and written communication along with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  13. Proven experience building world-class solutions on a global scale.
