We are presently recruiting for a HGV Mechanic for our clients in County Kerry. You will be responsible for inspections, repairs, and maintenance of a fleet of HGVs. As a HGV Mechanic, you will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform routine servicing, and ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations. This is a permanent, full-time position based in County Kerry.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair faults: Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and conduct necessary repairs.
  • Routine maintenance: Perform regular servicing, including oil changes, brake adjustments, and inspections, to ensure vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
  • Engine overhauls: Conduct major engine repairs or overhauls when necessary, including component replacement and system reconditioning.
  • Electrical system repair: Troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, and onboard electronics.
  • Brake and suspension systems: Maintain and repair braking systems, suspension components, and other critical safety features.
  • Compliance with regulations: Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet legal and manufacturer standards, including health and safety regulations.
  • Record-keeping: Maintain accurate service records and reports on all work performed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other mechanics, parts suppliers, and service managers to ensure efficient workflow.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Education: NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience working as an HGV Mechanic.
  • HGV license.
