GIS Data Analyst - Property Analytics Team

About our Team: You will be part of a team who use US insurance, property, weather, and other geo-spatial data from the various sources and platforms, to support our product suite of US property insurance underwriting and pricing.

About the Job: We are seeking a passionate and experienced GIS Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geospatial data handling and processing, proficiency in working with large volumes of data, and a deep understanding of various types of geospatial data. You will be responsible for processing and automating data workflows using advanced technologies and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Collecting, processing, and analyzing geospatial data, including weather-related data (flood, wind, hail, tornado/hurricane), property location data
  • Managing and integrating diverse datasets from varied sources such as census data, weather and property data
  • Designing and implementing data processing workflows to ensure efficient data handling
  • Automating data processing workflows using tools and scripting languages; Python, Pentaho Data Integration
  • Utilizing open-source software such as QGIS for geospatial analysis
  • Working with cloud technologies like AWS and Azure for data storage, processing, and analytics
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for data processes and workflows
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support data needs and analytic projects
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity through rigorous validation and cleansing processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in a GIS data analysis role
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation a plus
  • Experience with database management systems such as PostgreSQL and PostGIS a big plus (or good knowledge of a similar RDBMS)
  • Proficiency in using open-source geospatial tools like QGIS
  • Experience in workflow automation (Pentaho Data Integration)
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
  • Ability to handle and process large volumes of data efficiently
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
