Laois: Social Care Worker - Children's Service at Harmony Care. Location: Co Laois. Hours: Full-time/Part-time roles available with flexible scheduling. Reports To: Centre Manager.
About the RoleAs a Social Care Worker at Harmony Care, you will be at the heart of creating positive outcomes for children and young people in care. You will provide direct care, support their emotional and developmental needs, and help implement individual Care Plans and Placement Plans. This is a highly rewarding role for individuals who are compassionate, resilient, and committed to making a difference in the lives of young people.
Principal ResponsibilitiesPolicy and Procedures- Adhere to all organisational policies and procedures.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Safety Statement and Health and Safety Risk Assessments.
- Ensure the health and safety of young people, team members, and visitors through oversight of the premises.
- Report any health and safety concerns immediately to the Health and Safety Rep or Centre Manager.
- Support the development of Harmony Care's policies, procedures, and best practices within a homely environment.
- Build therapeutic, professional, and caring relationships with children in your care.
- Ensure children's physical, psychological, social, and emotional needs are met in accordance with the Child Care Act, 1991.
- Facilitate family time and support education, training, and employment in line with each child's Care Plan.
- Promote the holistic needs of children, including social, recreational, medical, dietary, and religious requirements.
- Enable and encourage children to participate in decisions affecting their lives.
- As a keyworker, collaborate with young people to implement individual care plans and placement plans effectively.
- Respond to risks using the risk management framework in place.
- Attend Child in Care Reviews and other relevant meetings to advocate for the child's needs.
- Fulfill duties such as keyworker or health and safety representative roles as assigned by management.
- Attend team meetings and professional training sessions.
- Foster collaborative working relationships with external professionals and agencies.
- Support the Centre during inspections and audits.
- Maintain effective self-care practices and encourage the same among colleagues.
- Engage in ongoing training opportunities provided by the Organisation.
- Take responsibility for your personal training and development plan.
- Fulfill duties as a mandated person and report child protection concerns to Tusla immediately.
- Notify the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) of safeguarding concerns.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the Organisation's Child Safeguarding Statement and risk management plans.
- Assist with household duties and meal preparation, involving the children when appropriate.
- Reconcile petty cash and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Complete daily recording systems and ensure effective handovers.
- Represent Harmony Residential Care professionally in all interactions.

Required criteria: BA in Applied Social Care Work (level 7/8) or equivalent.
Desired criteria: A full clean driving licence.
