GSW Solutions are recruiting for the role of Healthcare Assistant/Social Care Workers for our Client in the Sligo area.

Purpose of the Role:

The Social Care Worker is expected to engage in daily activities and routines of the service they are working in, including direct support to service users, administrative work, and daily tasks. The SCW works as part of a dedicated and innovative team within Residential Services, providing services to service users in line with regulations & standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day running of the service and ensure the delivery of a person-centered approach.
  • Under the supervision of the line manager, ensure that the Service User's personal plan complies with regulations and standards.
  • Proactively support service users in their daily lives and choices.
  • Maintain files in readiness for inspections.
  • Engage with families, clinicians, and build links within the community.
  • Implement positive support programs.
  • Promote independence and community integration.
  • Stay updated on social care policies and sectoral/national changes related to disability services.
  • Motivate and support service users to engage in planned activities of their choice.
  • Lead key working in consultation with service users, encouraging engagement in meaningful activities.
  • Support the care of service users, including personal care and general daily needs.
  • Educate yourself about each service user, listen actively, and use reflective practice to develop your skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies to meet ongoing needs.
  • Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and attending team meetings and supervisions.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with GDPR.
  • Perform health and safety checks, risk assessments, and report accordingly.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, families, and relevant parties.
  • Observe and report on health and safety matters.
  • Contribute to Person-Centred Planning meetings and follow up on actions and outcomes.
  • Be flexible and willing to work shifts to meet service needs.
  • Undertake any other duties within the scope of the role to meet service requirements.
