The School of Natural Sciences and the Discipline of Botany seek to appoint a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Environmental Science at Trinity College Dublin. The position is open to candidates with experience in any aspect of environmental science involving plants, algae, and/or fungi, and their interactions with the environment from molecular to individual plant scales. Research expertise in plant stress and mechanisms of plant responses to global change are of particular interest, including the use of transcriptomic, epigenomic, and/or proteomic techniques. Expertise in molecular-level responses to environmental challenges such as droughts, floods, temperature variations, and atmospheric changes in various ecosystems is desirable.
We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching and research complement or strengthen existing fields within the Discipline of Botany. Current modules include plant molecular biology, restoration ecology, rewilding, palaeobotany, soil science, plant carbon fluxes, climate modeling, biosphere nutrient cycles, below-ground processes, nature-based solutions, plant taxonomy, entomology, chemical ecology, genomics, and applied environmental genetics. Prior teaching experience in these areas is preferred.
Post Status: Tenure Track - initial 5-year contract, with potential permanency upon fulfilling tenure requirements.
Salary: Lecturer Salary Scale (109BN), approximately €42,500 to €101,541 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Refer to this document.
