Ability West provides a wide range of high-quality services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County. Services provided include day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training and multi-disciplinary supports. Responsibilities- Be responsible, under the general direction and control of the Head of Social Work, for social work duties associated with the services provided by Ability West.
- Provide a Social Work service to individuals and families who use Ability West services.
- Liaise with team members, Respite and Community Services Manager, Home Sharing Co-ordinator and other relevant Ability West staff.
- Promote service innovation in accordance with best practice.
- Work as part of inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary teams to promote the best interests of service users and their families.
- Keep records and submit reports as required by the Head of Social Work, and maintain up-to-date records of all contacts and meetings.
- Performs such other duties appropriate to the post as assigned by the Head of Social Work.
- Candidates must satisfy Department of Health and Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for appointment by holding a recognised degree or equivalent that is approved by CORU (Social Workers Registration Board).
- Full current driving license with access to your own vehicle.
