Job Description:

Trinity is Ireland's leading university and is ranked 75th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2026). Founded in 1592, the University has a rich history and a reputation for excellence in education, research, and innovation. The Substance Use and Mental Health Interventions using Digital Technology (SUMIT) project team has engaged in a strategic all-Ireland process over the last two years to identify shared challenges faced by people with substance use and mental health issues (PWSUMHI). The team has assessed the potential of digital interventions to address these challenges. The engagement work identified four key issues:

  • Barriers to Accessing Care and Support
  • Service-Centric rather than Person-Centered Care
  • Lack of Joined-Up Care for PWSUMHI
  • Service Capacity & Digital Skills

Objective: In a cross-border test bed environment, SUMIT aims to expand digital inclusion and develop three digitally enabled products for 1,500 PWSUMHI, increasing access to support and treatment while enhancing existing services. This project will inform health and care transformation, as well as wider policy and strategic considerations for future digitally enabled health and social care services. The School of Nursing and Midwifery at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) will lead the research and evaluation of the SUMIT project under Professor Catherine Comiskey, Principal Investigator. We are seeking to recruit a Post-Doctoral Fellow to lead the day-to-day research and evaluation of the work.
