There are currently permanent and specified purpose vacancies for whole-time and part-time Staff Midwives at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise.

This is a rolling campaign. A panel may be formed from this campaign to fill current and future vacancies, both permanent and specified purpose, for full-time or part-time roles.

Purpose of the Post:

To work within a multidisciplinary team providing a safe, effective, high-quality midwifery service to women, babies, and their families. The Staff Midwife will deliver evidence-based care in the maternity department, antenatal outpatient service, and community services, offering choices to women in the catchment area.

Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications, and Experience:
  • Registered in the Midwives Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by NMBI or eligible for registration.
  • Possess clinical and administrative capacity to perform the role effectively.
  • Maintain annual registration with NMBI and confirm registration annually through the PSAC.
  • Be fully competent and capable of performing the duties of the role and in good health.
  • Of good character.
Post-Specific Requirements:
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in maternity care relevant to the role.
  • Complete or be willing to undertake accredited neonatal resuscitation certification.
  • Complete or be willing to undertake accredited fetal monitoring certification.
  • Complete or be willing to undertake accredited breastfeeding/lactation programme.
