Senior Data Scientist, AI role at ESW. This hybrid role can be based from our office in Dublin or Madrid. You will be a key member of our newly established AI team, bringing deep technical expertise and collaborating with the Principal Data Scientist who will provide mentorship.

You will work with a compact, dynamic, cross-functional team alongside Product and Engineering, receiving direct mentorship from senior leadership. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI within our organisation and make a significant impact from day one.

• Problem Formulation & Strategy: Partner with peers across Product and the wider business to translate complex and ambiguous business challenges into well-defined, data-driven strategies and AI use-cases that deliver significant business value.
• Model & System Development: Own end-to-end design, development, training and evaluation of machine learning models and LLM-enabled systems, ensuring long-term scalability and maintainability and addressing identified business needs.
• Model Performance & Excellence: Establish and champion MLOps best practices, including standards for model monitoring, evaluation, and CI/CD for ML & AI; ensure production systems are resilient, performant, and continuously improving.
• Influential Communication: Clearly articulate complex technical designs, experimental results, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders, including senior leadership, influencing technical roadmaps and product strategy.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Act as a technical leader within the multi-disciplinary team; mentor and guide other data scientists, conduct code reviews, and foster technical excellence and collaborative learning.
• Drive Innovation: Actively research, prototype, and champion the latest AI/ML techniques, tools, and technologies.

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist with a proven track record of leading complex end-to-end AI/ML projects delivering significant business value.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Physics). A PhD qualification is a plus.
• Strong statistical knowledge and understanding of a broad range of ML algorithms / LLMs. Proficient in Python and data science ecosystem; proficient with one or more ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of modern database systems.
• Experience designing and building production-grade ML and generative AI systems.
• Experience with LLM orchestration tooling (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex) for complex agentic workflows; RAG; LLM fine-tuning experience a plus.
• Hands-on cloud development experience on Azure (Fabric, AI Foundry) or GCP (Vertex AI); experience designing and implementing MLOps pipelines.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and experiment tracking (MLflow, etc.).
• Natural leader and team player, adept at guiding technical discussions, aligning team members, and building consensus with stakeholders.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for technical and executive audiences.
