Overview

Purpose of Role: to provide a range of services to individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities and/or autism in a residential setting. All care is person centered and provides a holistic service in partnership with the person's circle of support.

Support Workers - €14.50 to €18.00

Shifts

12-hour shifts: 8 am to 8 pm and 8 pm to 8 am

Working Hours

A mixture of working hours are available and can be agreed at job offer stage. Flexibility for shift work may be required due to the 24/7 nature of the role.

Essential Criteria

• Permission to work in Ireland.
• One year of experience in a Healthcare setting.
• A QQI Level 5 qualification in Health or Social Care or equivalent for a Support Worker role
• Other relevant qualifications (e.g., Nursing, Addiction Studies, Teaching, Accredited Youth Training, Psychology) may be considered.
• Full clean driver's license

• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Comfortable using essential information technology and providing reports

Main Duties / Responsibilities

• Support service users with an intellectual/physical disability, autism.
• Help service users understand their environment, learn new skills and maximise independence.
• Assist individuals with daily living activities and health and well-being, including personal care and continence when required.
• Support individuals to live a meaningful life with a priority on equal citizenship.
• Facilitate participation and integration into the community.
• Act as an advocate for clients/residents and involve them in care/placement planning.
• Accompany service users to appointments and events as required.
• Assist service users with reduced mobility.
• Undertake duties as assigned to support care of service users.
• Manage challenging behaviours using a positive behaviour support plan.
• Provide reports on client activities to management.
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to care plan development and implementation.
