Residential Support Worker: Mallow, Cork - Part time/ Full time
OverviewPurpose of Role: to provide a range of services to individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities and/or autism in a residential setting. All care is person centered and provides a holistic service in partnership with the person's circle of support.
The CompanyBarrog Healthcare is a small, private health and social care provider based in Dublin with services nationwide providing residential care and day packages to enable people who need support across the areas of mental health, disability, aftercare, transitional and mainstream social care. SalarySupport Workers - €14.50 to €18.00
Job TypeFull time / Part Time, Permanent
Shifts12-hour shifts: 8 am to 8 pm and 8 pm to 8 am
Working HoursA mixture of working hours are available and can be agreed at job offer stage. Flexibility for shift work may be required due to the 24/7 nature of the role.

- One year of experience in a Healthcare setting.
- A QQI Level 5 qualification in Health or Social Care or equivalent for a Support Worker role
- Other relevant qualifications (e.g., Nursing, Addiction Studies, Teaching, Accredited Youth Training, Psychology) may be considered.
- Full clean driver's license
- Experience working in a Residential Setting
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and HIQA standards
- Experience/knowledge of report writing and client support plans
- The ability to support the client group in a respectful way, with the client's goals and needs at the centre of every task.
- Understanding of how to prevent and manage challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Comfortable using essential information technology and providing reports
- Support service users with an intellectual/physical disability, autism.
- Help service users understand their environment, learn new skills and maximise independence.
- Assist individuals with daily living activities and health and well-being, including personal care and continence when required.
- Support individuals to live a meaningful life with a priority on equal citizenship.
- Facilitate participation and integration into the community.
- Act as an advocate for clients/residents and involve them in care/placement planning.
- Accompany service users to appointments and events as required.
- Assist service users with reduced mobility.
- Undertake duties as assigned to support care of service users.
- Manage challenging behaviours using a positive behaviour support plan.
- Provide reports on client activities to management.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to care plan development and implementation.
